About

After many years of working in the construction industry as licensed architects & professional engineers, we realized that our experiences with certain contractors are never voiced to the general public.  Hence, the birth of blogmycontractor.com

You may ask, what makes our site different from the other contractor rating sites?  Well let us show you how our model differs from our competition.

Service Magic-Their business model is quite interesting.  At no cost to the owner, they will provide you with a list of contractors within your locality.  This is actually great for the home owner, unless you begin to really follow the cash.  So how does one get listed on Service Magic? It’s simple. The contractors have to pay. To us this model skews the real truth because anyone can pay to be on Service Magic.  Yes owners have a chance to see their reviews. But that only occurs after a project is completed.  This scenario allows the first few home owners to act as guineas pigs for the contractor since no one previously had a chance to review them.  Plus how much can you really trust a company that is paid to advertise a contractor.

Angieslist-Contrary to service magic, here you (the owner) are obliged to pay a fee to obtain access to their database.  Why would anyone pay to see a list of potentially bad reviews on contractors?  Plus, how do we know the good reviews are not being posted by the contractors’ extended family..

So what makes us different?

Its simple.  Our contractor reviews can only be posted by licensed architects or professional engineers.

Why licensed professionals?  Well, licensed professionals are held to a higher standard of ethics as determined by the court system.  They can not hide behind the corporate veil of any corporation, which is how our competitors are able to operate without any real liability.   To provide you at a glimpse of our regulations, we have created a web-page strictly showing you the laws governing our professional.

Here is the link to each state’s code of ethics.

To further establish our strong foundation on providing you with only the truth, we would like to note that we will not accept an advertisement for any contractor unless their work has gone through the following three step process:

  1. An in-depth review of three recent projects by a licensed professional.  The review will include a written report based upon the professional’s observations.  Once completed the review will be visible to all visitors to blogmycontractor.com
  2. Establishing contact with the owners’ of the previous projects.
  3. An interview conducted by the licensed professional with the goal of determining the contractor’s knowledge of their respective field.

It is our hope, with all of the above mentioned procedures; our website will begin to reveal the truth behind one of the world’s oldest industries.

Thank you for visiting.

Sincerely

~BlogMyContractor.com
